Girls. It was something that Scout had hardly given much thought to since the whole end of the world thing. He was so absorbed most of the time with just making sure that the people around him survived and things functioned again that he didn't have the time for anything that a normal 22-year-old guy would have the time for. He had been hit on a few times but not by anything near respectable. There was a human race to rebuild, yes, but there was also a society to rebuild too.
The shop was full of little gadgets and gizmos and a car that was lifted up in the air that Scout was surprised if he could get working at all. It was a large dodge truck and Scout knew that if he could get it to run, it would be a lot of help around town.
His days mostly consisted of this. Building, tearing down, rebuilding... His days were long but the weeks went by fast. He stepped back from the truck and wondered if there was anything else that he was missing. He wiped his hands and walked over to the ignition and turned the key....
The engine purred to life and a satisfied smile came to Scouts lips. He would go to Mr. Tilney tomorrow and let him know that his truck was working again. He would be very happy to hear that. Scout thought that he would do well to reward himself later with some ale. He looked forward to that.

"Stupid .. piece .. of .. junk!" Each word was punctuated with the sound of a heavy boot connecting with something metallic. More specifically, the side of a computer. Ronnie had been working overtime the past couple of days on two abandoned computers she'd found in an abandoned clinic on her travels outside of Rustboro. The rest of the building had been picked clean by Raiders who had passed through earlier bar one room at the back. Blood stained the walls and it didn't look too old, which meant that they were probably only still there because zombies had turned up and the Raiders cut their losses.
What was their loss was Ronnie's gain though because, after she'd lugged them both back to her little workshop in town, she cracked the hard-drives and found various medical files and records of tests they'd been carrying out. Not much use to a woman like herself but information sold just as well as material possessions did so it had been worth her time and efforts.
Of the two one was broken beyond repair, so she stripped it down for material and parts, but the other she could work with. That was why she was kicking the side of it in frustration. Because the side wasn't coming off she couldn't get at what was inside and check out the damage. Apparently someone up above was listening because after another hefty kick the side gave way, leaving a big enough gap for her to jam a screwdriver in and pry it away. Like a child she was eager to look at the contents but found herself sighing again when she caught sight of the motherboard. Completely fried.
Unhooking the wires and pulling it out of the case, she turned it over in her hands. Where would she get another one at a decent enough price? Not many people specialized in technology and she figured even less would have a random motherboard laying around for her to buy. But...maybe Scout could help her out? She'd been to see him about other stuff previously so there was no harm in asking, right?
Grabbing the checked shirt that was hanging over the back of her chair, she pulled it on and then checked her back pocket for the spare bit of cash she kept to hand for cases like this. Figuring she'd have enough to buy whatever she needed, she left her workshop with fried motherboard in hand and made her way over to Scout's shop. It actually wasn't that far of a walk from where she'd set up her own place but that was irrelevant.
Popping her head around the door, knowing he was there since she'd heard an engine start up, she knocked loud enough for him to hear it and smiled. "Heyyy," She greeted, biting her lip as if she knew she was pestering him anyway. "You're not too busy, are you?" Ronnie asked then, glancing towards the truck he was working on as she lingered in the doorway.

There was a rather loud knock on the door and Scout looked up to see Ronnie poking in her head. He smiled at her, knowing that she was obviously stressed out about something. Usually when she came by the shop it was because she had hit a wall in some sort of tech problem and since he was the only one in the area who did repairs even remotely relating to her work, she sometimes came by for consultations or collaborations.
Not that Scout minded. It was nice to speak repair jargon to someone who could remotely understand what was going on with certain things. In all honesty, he was sort of relieved when she had moved into town because that meant that he wasn't totally alone in trying to rebuild everyday things that could be useful again. Some people had little projects that they worked on but few people took on the really hard projects. He often thought back to what he had learned about the Great Depression and thought it was similar to what they were going through today. At least in the sense that if you didn't make do with something, you had to do without.
Today he was relieved in a way to see her. Sometimes it was a nice change of pace to look at technology instead of engines or rusty gears. He didn't know much about technology but he knew more than the normal person. He had been rather handy with computers in the past and had repaired more than one gaming system in his life so more often than not, he got the basic gist of things. It was too bad that he hadn't taken more time with it but how was he supposed to know that one day the zombies would actually descend on the world the way that they did?
"Hey there Ronnie," he chimed. "good timing. I just finished a repair so if you need to ask a question go right on ahead." He slammed the hood of the truck and wiped down his hands before turning off the engine. It was nice to get that silly project out of the way. Now if he could walk Ronnie through some sort of project it would be a productive day to say the least. He only hoped that whatever problem that she had, he would be able to help her out with it.
